Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche

At the request of Ontul Rinpoche, and other Drikung Kagyu Lama's, Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche, is coming to the US for his first visit. Our intention is to invite Rinpoche to return to Tucson for further teachings and guidance. Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche's incarnations can be traced back to the extraordinary Drigunkpa Atsara Sale, who lived in 9th century Tibet. Atsara Sale was one of the heart sons of Guru Rinpoche. Revered as a great practitioner of Vajrakilaya, he was also a consort of Yeshe Tsogyal and their relationship has become the source of inspiration for students through the ages.

The first incarnation known as Thupten Nyingpo was the younger brother of two notable teachers: the great 19th century Drikung Treasure revealer Nuden Dorje; and the first Ontul Rinpoche. The first Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche became a great siddha, highly accomplished in the practices of Chöd and Vajrakilaya. Students of the Drikung lineage should note that the present Thupten Nyingpo's previous incarnation was one of the root teachers of our beloved Garchen Rinpoche.

During teachings in Rochester at the end of May, Garchen Rinpoche showed great respect for Thupten Nyingpo. As they received an empowerment, students were delighted to learn that Garchen Rinpoche was given the transmission for the empowerment by Thupten Nyingpo's previous incarnation.

Today Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche, together with H.E. Bongtul Rinpoche, heads Lho Gar Monastary in Eastern Tibet. His teachers include H.H. Chetsang Rinpoche, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, Ven. Ontul Rinpoche, Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche, and Drubwang Rinpoche. He also studied at the Payul (Nyingma) Shedra in South India. His activities for the future include creating a new Shedra at his Monastary as well as a school to care for and raise homeless orphans.

In whatever teaching or other activity he undertakes, he earnestly pursues hearing, reflecting, and meditation, never wasting a moment, always embodying the sacred intention of the Dharma. He presently continues to strive raising the Victory Banner, for the glory of the teachings and beings.

Background Information on the Empowerments and Teachings

http://www.dharma-media.org/wogmin/nuden_dorje.html

The Third Turning of the Wheel is the Vajrayana (or resultant vehicle), which takes the power of nirvana as path, using the result as path. Vajrayana reveals methods used to achieve perfect Buddhahood in a single lifetime, accomplished by an individual with rigorous spiritual practice and the assistance of a guru. The Vajrayana scriptures came down to us as the tantras.

The tantras were received through visions and revelations, or from higher spiritual epiphanies and realizations. Many, including the seventeen Dzogchen tantras, were received in secret “twilight” languages like Dakini script (Devanagiri), rather than Pali or Sanskrit.

The tantras include a whole array of teachings on the nondual teachings of Mahamudra and Dzogchen, as well as teachings on such topics as Kalachakra, bardo, dream yoga, tantric energy yoga, visionary practices, and the rainbow light body.

The precious teachings being presented in Tucson by Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche come from the secret Yangzab tantras revealed by Oygen Nuden Dorje and Drikung Rinchen Phuntsok.

Yangzab Chenrezig

Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche will be giving the Yangzab Chenrezig empowerment, which was revealed as a treasure by Drikung Rinchen Phuntsok. This treasure cycle includes the outer, inner, and secret practice of Chenrezig. This is a very potent practice to generate bodhicitta, and to realize and abide in mind's true nature. Also included in this cycle of practices, is a death ritual to liberate those who have died and are suffering in the bardo. Through this practice, the consciousness of the deceased being is summoned from the bardo, demonic obstructers are dispelled, their negative karma is purified, and they are guided to Amitaba’s Pureland.

Rainbow Body Chöd

Following in the tradition of his previous incarnations, the present Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche is also an accomplished Chöd Master and Vajrakilaya practitioner. Rinpoche will be teaching the very special Chöd practice of Drikung Nuden Dorje. This Chöd practice was revealed to Nuden Dorje in a Pure Vision and is unique in that it unifies all Chöd traditions in one practice.

It is a great blessing to be able to receive this practice from Rinpoche. Through this Chöd practice the two accumulations of merit and wisdom are quickly accomplished, and it is possible within one lifetime, to attain the indestructible Rainbow Body. In future Tucson teachings, this practice will also be taught by Ontul Rinpoche and Thupten Nyingpo Rinpoche as part of ongoing teachings intended to assist Sangha members with the practice of Vajrayana Buddhism.

Guide to the Fortunate

The Sadhana of Urgyen Rinpoche Guide to the Fortunate "The Excellent Path of Benefit and Ease" Empowerment and Teachings. This is a treasure text revealed by Vidyadhara Urgyen Chemchog Nuden Tsal. This practice pacifies illness, famine, drought, and the "Age of Weapons". This is a wonderful sadhana, being offered to generate blessings during the Earth Changes.
